    Support During COVID-19

    Dear Parent/Carers,
A new page has been created on our website to provide support for you and your families during this Covid-19 pandemic. The page will assist you in gaining information on the following:
    1) Mental Health and Wellbeing
    2) Physical Health
    3) Safeguarding, including: keeping our children safe; keeping our children safe online; and supporting our vulnerable pupils, including those with SEND.
Many more topics will be included on this page, surrounding support for families during this time of school closure. We will be adding guidance and advice regularly, that we as staff recommend for you to have access to. We hope this assists you and saves you some time in having to research yourselves.

To access the page, please go to our website and click on the tab, Parents and Pupils, followed by clicking in to the sub-tab, Support During COVID-19.

Of course, our usual support pages are to be found on our website, including topic tabs on Safeguarding, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Online Safety, SEND and much, much more. You will find many resources, policies and guidance, of use across our website.

Please see attached a weekly update from Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service (ECFWS). Due to the size of the letters, I will only send them to you when particularly useful, otherwise, we will screen the information for you and pass on what is helpful. ECFWS information is also on our new support page, mentioned above, where you can find links direct to their website and pandemic resource hub.

I will be uploading shortly the weekly remote learning plans, for this week coming. We will aim to get these to you every Sunday afternoon, allowing time to digest the learning plans before having to support children with activities from Monday morning onwards.

    Stay safe and well.

If you have any issues with the learning platform, do get in contact with the school via the admin@coopersaletheydongarnon.essex.sch.uk email. We will send any issues to the appropriate staff member to deal with. It goes without saying though, do give us today, before sending any queries over.

    Free School Meal Vouchers

    Dear Parent/Carers,
For those pupils staying at home and eligible for the Pupil Premium Grant funding, the school arranged a lunch box collection for the start of this week. You were contacted on Monday morning by the school and you told us if you required this service or not.
We have been waiting for guidance from the government on a voucher system promised to be in place, but as of yet this has not been put into fruition.
Moving forward, the school is not in a position to continue the lunch box collection service, and so for the interim, we have decided to put in to action our own voucher system until a government led scheme is announced. The attached document gives you information on what to expect via email, to allow your voucher to be used. The email should be coming to you from WONDE and we expect you to get it sometime today.
Please do note that the voucher system and email to set up, is only being sent to families where their child is eligible for Free School Meals. This is not the same as the Pupil Premium Register that we used at the start of the week.
The initial voucher should give you 8-10 days until the Easter holidays. I will send more information out closer to that time, informing you of the school’s voucher system moving forward, if we remain closed.

I’ve attached a link to the DfE guidance on COVID-19 FSM guidance for schools. You may need to copy and paste it into your browser:

    https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-free-school-meals-guidance/covid-19-free-school-meals-guidance-for-schools

Many thanks as always, this is new to all schools, so we appreciate your patience.

A message from DfE: Be aware of scam emails
We have been informed that some parents have received an email stating the following: ‘As schools will be closing, if you’re entitled to free school meals, please send your bank details and we’ll make sure you’re supported’.
We can confirm that this is a scam email and is not official. We urge parents that if you receive any emails like this, please do not respond, and delete it immediately.

Critical Work and Staying at Home - A must read

    Dear Parents/Carers,
Please read the attached letter from the Essex Director of Education. It is an essential read in particular to those parents who are critical workers.
As you can imagine, currently a lot of my time is spent on ensuring that I have the right children at our school, to ensure the COVID-19 response workers are able to do their jobs - whilst at the same time ensuring that our vulnerable pupils at school are not exposed to more children than must be. I must urge you all to keep reading my letters in full, as I can not be wasting valuable time repeating myself to complaint procedures, purely because you may disagree with the governments rules enforced on mainstream schools - of which all have been followed diligently by myself and other leaders at the school. I am in constant updates to the Chair of Governors of our school, informing him of any reasons for not allowing pupils on site or why those on site do meet guidance measures.
May I also add, as school leadership, we have at no point insisted that both parents need to be critical workers to have their child attend school. However, we have investigated where a member of a household is not a critical worker and why they are not staying at home to look after their children as expected by the government.
In addition, our school is a direct partner to a local Trust and local partnership of schools, 23 local schools in total. I am in daily talks with all of these shools leaders, and we are all working together, with the guidance direct from PHE, DfE and LEA. Coopersale therefore is not on its own.
Keep healthy and look after one another.
    Mr Bateman

The local authority have apologised for not placing a correct link on yesterday's letter to the referred map of Italy (areas of the country on lockdown due to Coronavirus cases). Please see the attachment for this map and details if required.
