World Book Day - Dress Up Day on Wednesday 6th March

15 February 2024 (by admin)

Dear Parent/Carers,

To help promote of love of reading, we will be celebrating World Book Day on Wednesday 6th March 2024. Yes, the official day is actually 7th March for those who have been keeping track of events, but we have moved the day to celebrate due to school visits that clash on the 7th March.

When we return from half term break, we will send a detailed update on all the wonderful events taking place across the 6th March to celebrate the day. For now, we thought you’d appreciate early notice that the day is a ‘dress up day’ for our school.

Children are invited to dress up as a loved book character if they wish. Alternatively, they may choose to wear an accessory such as a hat or mask instead, or even reuse a Halloween costume to become a character such as The Worst Witch or Harry Potter. Some of your favourite characters may not have such a unique look, such as a blue dress for Matilda or a smart jacket to be Mr Wonka. Please do not feel pressured to purchase new costumes. If you follow this link, it will help you make some simple props to dress as Gangster Granny: https://media.immediate.co.uk/volatile/sites/28/2019/02/gangsta.pdf Whatever you choose, we look forward to seeing all the costumes on the day.

Year 2: For those families with a child in Year 2, P.E for the day will not take place. Year 2 children will have P.E on Friday 8th March instead.

We are very excited to have a fun day, full of books, reading and storytelling!

With Kind Regards,

Coopersale and Theydon Garnon C.E Primary School
