Dear Parents/Carers,
We have decided, as a school, to stop our subscription to Grammar Bug (part of Active Learn online). We have made this decision as we know it is not being used frequently for home learning, and we also want to try and prioritise reading, TTRockstars/Numbots and spelling. Therefore, logging onto Grammar Bug will no longer be part of the weekly homework. If you wish for your child to be practising additional grammar skills at home, please speak to your class teacher who will be happy to continue supplying paper copies of activities.
As we have such a wide, diverse, and exciting range of books in school for children to take home and read, we have also decided to stop our KS2 (Years 3-6) online Bug Club. Through talking to the KS2 pupils, we know that they are enjoying the hard copy chapter books much more, so we would rather them enjoy these to help promote our love of reading. Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 are still encouraged to use Bug Club for enjoyment reading, but also for a wide range of books matched to children’s phonetic reading levels.
We hope you understand why we have made these changes and that you will continue to support your children in completing their home learning each week to help embed key skills.
