Year 5 Parent Talk - Re. Puberty Lessons22 October 2025 (by admin) |
Dear Year 5 Parents and Carers,
Relationship and Health Education (RHE) Curriculum became compulsory for schools to teach from September 2020. With this change, parents are not able to withdraw their children from any aspect of Relationships Education or Health Education (which includes learning about the changing adolescent body and puberty).
Year 5 children will take part in RHE sessions, that cover the statutory Science and Health education topics of:
• Puberty - changes in both girls and boys
• Menstruation
• Wet dreams
We have currently scheduled the sessions to take place on the 27th November. On this day, once sessions are completed, we will aim to update you on Jotter, to support you in any follow up conversations you may want to have with your child once at home that afternoon/evening.
To assist you in follow up conversations with your child, we would like to invite you to our parent information session, held in the school Hall on, Friday 7th November at 9.00am to 10.00am. During this presentation, we will explain the sessions covered and share with you all resources being used.
To confirm, the lessons will not cover any non-statutory topics, such as Sex Education.
Kind regards,
Mr Dale Bateman
Headteacher
